HALL STUDIO — TERMS OF HIRE

1. Definitions

Owner: Hall Studio Ltd and any person authorised to act on its behalf, including its directors, employees, contractors, agents, and representatives.

Hirer / Client: Any individual or organisation booking or using the Studio, including their employees, contractors, representatives, guests, or agents.

Studio: The premises known as Hall Studio at The Presbytery, Dundee St, London E1W 2PH, including all interior areas, accessways, entrances, fixtures, equipment, and any areas to which the Hirer is granted access.

Equipment: All fixtures, fittings, lighting, furniture, backdrops, stands, modifiers, appliances, and any other items provided by or located within the Studio.

Hire Period: The booked time slot is agreed in writing.

Booking Confirmation: A booking is confirmed only once the Owner has issued written confirmation and, where applicable, received payment or a deposit.

By confirming a booking, the Hirer agrees to these Terms in full.

2. Hire Fees & Payment

Hire rates are as published or as agreed in writing.
Bookings must be paid at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Additional services, equipment, overtime, cleaning, damages, or other charges will be invoiced and must be paid within 7 days.

The Owner reserves the right to cancel bookings without payment confirmation and to refuse any booking at its discretion.

3. Hire Period & Overtime

Standard hire hours are 9:00–18:00.

Overtime is charged at £80 per hour or part thereof.

Unauthorised overtime is charged at double the standard hourly rate.

Overtime is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.

The Hirer must vacate the Studio by the end of the Hire Period. Set-up and breakdown times must be included within the booking.

4. Cancellations & Rescheduling

More than 48 hours’ notice — booking may be rescheduled within 30 days.

24–48 hours’ notice — 50% of the fee payable.

Less than 24 hours’ notice or no-show — 100% payable.

Deposits are non-refundable.

The Owner may cancel bookings due to circumstances beyond its control. In such cases, liability is limited to a refund of fees paid.

5. Damage Deposit

The Owner may require a refundable damage deposit prior to hire. The deposit may be retained in full or in part to cover:

  • damage

  • excessive cleaning

  • overtime

  • rule breaches

  • lost items or keys

6. Equipment Use & Responsibility

Equipment is provided in good working order, but suitability cannot be guaranteed.

Equipment must not be removed from the Studio.

The Hirer assumes full responsibility for all Equipment during the Hire Period.

Any loss, theft, or damage will be charged at full replacement value plus loss-of-hire costs.

Faults must be reported before use. Unreported issues are deemed to have occurred during the hire.

Equipment must be used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

The Owner may enter the Studio at any time to inspect equipment or enforce these Terms.

7. Studio Rules & Restrictions

The following are prohibited unless expressly approved in writing:

  • open flames or smoke effects

  • hazardous materials

  • excessive noise

  • illegal activity

  • animals

  • structural alterations

  • wall fixings or drilling

  • liquids near electrical equipment

The maximum number of persons permitted in the Studio at any time is six (6) unless otherwise agreed in writing.

The Owner reserves the right to immediately terminate a hire if unsafe, illegal, or negligent activity is suspected. No refund will be issued.

8. Cleaning & Condition

General cleaning is included in the booking cost.

The Studio must be returned in the same condition as received.

Additional cleaning or waste removal will be charged.

If the Studio cannot be used for a subsequent booking due to its condition after hire, the Hirer will be liable for resulting loss, including up to the full next-day hire rate.

9. Insurance

The Hirer must hold valid public liability insurance of not less than £1,000,000 covering the Hire Period and activities undertaken at the Studio, and must provide proof upon request.

The Hirer is responsible for all persons and property brought onto the premises.

10. Liability

Use of the Studio is at the Hirer’s own risk.

The Studio and Owner are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property.

The total liability of the Studio and Owner for any claim shall not exceed the hire fee paid.

Neither the Studio nor the Owner shall be liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of business, profits, or reputation.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where exclusion is prohibited by law.

11. Indemnity

The Hirer agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Studio and the Owner from any and all claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:

  • use or occupation of the Studio

  • breach of these Terms

  • any act or omission of the Hirer or persons present with the Hirer’s permission

This clause survives termination or completion of the hire.

12. Access & Conduct

The Owner retains the right to enter the Studio at any time.

The Hirer is responsible for the conduct and safety of all persons attending.

Failure to comply with instructions of the Owner may result in immediate termination of hire without refund.

13. Force Majeure

The Studio and Owner shall not be liable for failure to perform obligations due to events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • power outages

  • building closure

  • natural events

  • government restrictions

  • emergencies

  • strikes

  • utility failure

14. Data Protection

The personal data provided will be used solely for booking administration and service delivery, in accordance with UK data protection legislation.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
